#BreakingNews Two teens who deliberately hit and k*lled a retired Police Chief were sentenced to up to life in prison #lasvegas Two young men who deliberately hit and ki*led a retired California police chief while on a crime spree in 2023 were sentenced in what prosecutors described as the maximum penalty allowed under Nevada law for offenders who were juveniles at the time. #news Jesus Ayala, now 20, received a sentence of 20 years to life in prison, while Jzamir Keys, now 18, was sentenced to 18 years to life. Both will be eligible for parole after serving the minimum terms, because the state doesn't allow juveniles to be sentenced to life without parole. #ChristinaAguayoNews The pair pleaded guilty in October to second-degree m*rder with use of a deadly weapon in the death of Andreas "Andy" Probst, a 64-year-old retired police chief from Bell, California. Additional charges included battery with a deadly weapon. Key facts from the case: 🔵On August 14, 2023, Ayala and Keys, then 17 and 16, stole a Hyundai Elantra and went on a rampage, intentionally hitting two bicyclists in northwest Las Vegas. 🔵Video evidence captured by Keys showed the defendants laughing as Ayala swerved to hit Probst from behind while he rode in a bike lane, killing him instantly. 🔵The same spree included hitting another bicyclist who survived and other vehicle thefts and crashes. 🔵In prior court appearances the pair didn't show any remorse, but instead giggled and flipped off the victims family. During the sentencing iJudge Jacqueline Bluth said there was "no excuse" for the pain caused. Probst's widow, Crystal Probst, and children delivered emotional victim impact statements, describing the family's permanent devastation and the added trauma of the recorded m*rder.

Adam Silver: NBA will decide on expansion “sometime in 2026” — Vegas and Seattle on deck

Per Adam Silver, the NBA is finally putting a rough timeline on expansion. Speaking before the NBA Cup Final in Vegas, Silver said the league is working with current teams, running the numbers, and “sometime in 2026 we’ll make a determination” on whether to expand past 30 teams. He specifically name-checked Las Vegas and Seattle as the two main markets the league is studying, while adding that they’ve looked at other cities too. The NBA hasn’t expanded since 2004 (Charlotte Bobcats), and Seattle has been without a team since the Sonics moved to OKC in 2008. If/when expansion happens, we’re talking about: Two new teams (most likely) A massive expansion fee split among owners An expansion draft that could shake up a lot of rosters If the NBA actually pulls the trigger, where do you want the next teams — Vegas, Seattle, or somewhere else? #NBA #AdamSilver #NBAExpansion #Seattle #LasVegas #NBADiscussion

las vegas: freedom or illusion? 🎰🌃

The first time I walked down the Las Vegas Strip, it felt electric — neon lights, fountains dancing to Sinatra, strangers cheering over slot machines. For a moment, it truly felt like freedom. But then I started looking closer. A bride in a wrinkled white dress cried quietly behind a casino. A dealer at the blackjack table smiled mechanically, eyes half-dead from the night shift. On Fremont Street, a man in a Spider-Man costume asked me for a cigarette, then for five dollars. Vegas sells you the fantasy that you can be anyone for a night — rich, lucky, desired. But it never tells you what happens when the sun comes up and the lights turn off. Behind every jackpot, there’s someone who lost rent money. Behind every “what happens in Vegas” laugh, there’s silence on the flight home. Vegas isn’t freedom. It’s a mirror — showing you what you want so badly that you’ll pay to believe it. #Travel #LasVegas
