Isaiah 40:31 says those who “wait for the Lord shall renew their strength.” Most of us hear that as: try harder, then God will recharge you. But the Hebrew word here is koach. Koach doesn’t just mean raw power. It means capacity. The ability to carry a weight. The strength to endure what doesn’t end quickly. In other words, this verse is not promising that you’ll suddenly feel energized. It’s saying something quieter—and much more honest. God doesn’t always remove the burden. Sometimes He increases the capacity of the one carrying it. That matters if you’re older. Because many of you aren’t asking for excitement anymore. You’re asking for enough strength to get through another year that looks a lot like the last one. If your body feels slower. If your faith feels heavier. If life hasn’t gotten easier, just longer.
