⚠️ WARNING – ATM at Target in Fairfield, NJ ⚠️ This happened last Monday, and I am still dealing with the fallout. I used the ATM inside Target in Fairfield, NJ and the machine kept my debit card before I was even able to enter my PIN number. There was no completed transaction. No warning. It just took my card. When I asked for a manager, I was given a shift leader who was completely disrespectful and dismissive. There was no urgency and no real attempt to resolve the situation. For those who think it’s “just get a new card” my son’s Social Security benefits are deposited onto that card. Anyone who has ever dealt with Social Security knows how complicated and time-consuming it can be. Now I’m forced to deal with replacing a compromised card on top of everything else. When I contacted the ATM company, I was told the card was “compromised” and that due to federal law they cannot return it. Later, I spoke with another manager in a different department who took my name and number and said he would be meeting with the regional and district managers and would explain the situation. It has now been over a week, and I have heard nothing. I also filed an online guest complaint and was essentially told to get a new card from my financial institution. When a machine inside your store swallows a customer’s card without even processing a transaction, there should be accountability and follow-up.
