Downtown Fort Worth Free Parking Era Ends Tonight: As the clock strikes midnight on December 31, 2025, Maria pulled her SUV into the familiar City Center Garage at 400 Jones Street, the engine humming softly under the glow of downtown lights. For 26 years, this spot had been a free haven for evenings out and weekend adventures, courtesy of the city's Downtown Tax Increment Financing district that subsidized spots at City Center and 777 Main to boost local shops and eateries. Tonight, on the program's final evening, she savored the ritual one last time, knowing paid rates would kick in tomorrow—though street meters stayed free after 6 p.m. weekdays and all day weekends, and Sundance Square validations offered a workaround. Maria met her friends at a Sundance Square bistro, laughter echoing as they dined without a worry about tickets. "Here's to free parking memories," she toasted, grabbing a validation stamp for good measure. Outside, the streets buzzed with New Year's Eve crowds, oblivious to the shift ahead. Walking out into the crisp air, Maria eyed the FW Park app on her phone, ready for 2026's realities. The end of free garage nights marked a new chapter for Fort Worth's vibrant core, nudging visitors toward planning ahead with validations or street savvy. Is it legal to tow a car that's blocking your driveway?

You've had a really long day, you're tired, and all you want to do is pull into your driveway. Then you see it. Some stranger's car is sitting right there, blocking your way. First instinct is to probably just call a tow truck right away. It is illegal to block a driveway which means you can get the cops involved and usually you won't be stuck with the tow bill. But before you get totally mad about it, maybe try being polite first. Try leaving a note explaining that they are blocking your driveway. If the polite approach does not work, then it's time to call your local law enforcement. Use their main non-emergency number or 311 if you have it. They will come out and handle contacting a tow company for you. This is usually the best way because some tow companies won't even move a car unless the police have already been involved. And whatever you do, please do not try to tow the car yourself. Local police department told me it's kind of a gray area and you could get into trouble if you damage the car without the right insurance. It is always best to let the professionals handle it. #ParkingProblems #HomeownerLife #TowTruckDrama #LegalAdvice #HelpNeeded #Cars #CommunityTalk #Neighborhoods
