El Mercado’s 40-year run in South Austin is ending, but the spirit of this beloved Tex-Mex spot isn’t going anywhere. Instead of condos or a chain, the building will soon become De Nada Taco, run by a local hospitality group that promises to keep much of El Mercado’s menu and staff.
