Classic American Chili (Easy, Hearty, One-Pot)

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz)
1 can kidney beans (drained)
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
½ tsp smoked paprika
Salt, pepper
Optional toppings: cheese, sour cream, scallions
Instructions
In a large pot, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
Add onion, pepper, and garlic; cook 5 minutes until soft.
Stir in tomatoes, beans, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Add ½–1 cup water to reach your preferred thickness.
Simmer uncovered 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot with cheese, crackers, or cornbread.
