I think my neighbor died days ago ...

I live in a small 4 unit building and things have been really heavy here lately. One of my neighbors went missing five days ago and yesterday the whole lot was full of police cars and the county medical examiner. They took all of our info but wouldn't say a word besides confirming he was reported missing. It seems pretty obvious what happened since the medical examiner was there but nobody has come by to clean anything up and it has been over 24 hours now. I saw him right before he vanished when he was putting a tarp on his car for the snow and that tarp hasn't moved an inch. The lights are on in his place tonight but there are no other cars around so I suspect he might have been in there for days before they found him. Rent is due today and we just got an elusive new landlord who nobody really knows yet. I am a first-time renter and I don’t know how any of this works, so I’m wondering if I should contact the landlord to ask about it or if someone has already told him. I’m in a weird spot with my boss and a Christmas card. Help

I work in a tiny office and my boss and his wife are about to head out for vacation. Today, I saw them whispering and heard the wife ask, "Should we give it to her now?" She then handed me an envelope, telling me, "It's more than just a card." I waited until I was alone to open it, but all that was inside was a Christmas postcard with a "thank you" sticker on the back. No cash, no check, nothing. Given the whispering and her specific comment, it really feels like they intended to include a bonus, which is standard here, but maybe just forgot to tuck it in? Now I’m spiraling about how to thank them. If I just thank them for the card, and they thought they gave me money, it’s awkward. But I can't exactly ask where the cash is.
