Came home to strangers in my house, and the police said I "can't kick them out."

It’s a nightmare. We went on vacation for a week, and came back to find someone had changed the locks and moved in. I called the cops. They looked at a fake lease the guy showed and told me: "This is a civil matter. You have to evict them through the court. It could take 6 months." Wait, this is MY house!
