The problem with SNAP is that it's become a dependency instead of temporary assistance.

In 1996, the program used to be called TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) How long can you stay on TANF? 60 months TANF lifetime limits determine how long a participant can receive TANF benefits. TANF is limited at the federal level to a total of 60 months (or five years). The problem with that program was the welfare office didn't enforce school or work programs. Those receiving benefits easily made receiving benefits a career. I remain steadfast IMO, that SNAP should be limited to the elderly disabled & veterans. Govt dependency doesn't fix the problem. The working poor do have options; there are free vocational programs to aid in gainful employment, and or education. Why should anyone do it when it's just as easy to keep accepting benefits with out an expiration? 45-50yrs ago while there was welfare benefits many weren't aware, most ppl worked several jobs to make ends meet, there was no gov't dependency. During the 80's there were single mothers too, and they did it without welfaré benefits. The entitment videos I've been seeing irk the hell out of me, where there's been threats to loot, rob/steal from homes --- it's sickening. It's time for ppl to help themselves. #SNAPBenefits #SNAPLife #SNAPTalk
