Tiffany Carey was days away from welcoming her baby boy Kylo when she complained of a severe headache and laid down for a nap on May 2. The 41-year-old North Texas mother had just celebrated her baby shower less than a week earlier. She never woke up. Baby Kylo, still in the womb, did not survive either. Her husband Avi said he knew something was wrong when he went to check on her. "I looked at her face and her lips were blue," he said. "And I already knew." The couple had been together nearly two decades and were raising two children together when Kylo was on the way. Despite a high-risk pregnancy and twice-weekly doctor visits, Tiffany's life ended suddenly and without warning. Black women are more than three times as likely as white women to die from pregnancy-related causes and roughly 80% of maternal deaths in the U.S. are considered preventable. Avi described Tiffany as his "soulmate, wife, rock, and anchor." Her philosophy was simple. "You've got to lead with love," she would say. She and baby Kylo were laid to rest together. #Texas #Mother #pregnancy

In 2016, a surgical team at Texas Children’s Hospital performed one of the most intricate procedures in modern medicine. At 23 weeks gestation, a fetus was found to have a huge sacrococcygeal teratoma, a rare tumor that can overwhelm the heart and be fatal before birth. Dr Oluyinka Olutoye, a Nigerian-born pediatric surgeon, helped lead the open fetal operation. The fetus was partially brought out of the uterus while remaining attached to the placenta, enabling surgeons to remove most of the tumor and then return her so she could continue developing. The pregnancy proceeded to 36 weeks, and she was safely born; the remaining tumor tissue was removed after delivery. The case stands as a remarkable example of how advanced fetal surgery can change outcomes before life even begins outside the womb. #PregnancyStruggles #Pregnancy #TexasNews #TexasRangers #Viral #ViralPost #Trending #TrendingNow
