The .30-06 that nearly knocked me over

My first was a used H&R Handi-Rifle in .30-06. My dad thought it was a great starter gun. He failed to mention the recoil! I remember my first shot at the range—my shoulder was bruised for a week and I was scared of it after that 😂. I eventually learned to manage it and got a few deer, but I quickly upgraded to something with a better pad. Anyone else have a first rifle that fought back? #MyFirstRifle #Hunting
