I Took My SUV to the Food Bank, and I'm Not Ashamed

My husband is a lawyer at the DOJ, and I'm an engineer at NASA. We are both furloughed. Our combined household income is, on paper, $250,000. Today, we took our SUV and got in line at the local food bank. Do we need the food? No. We have savings. But we went. Why? Because we have to make this visible. As long as it's only poor people in line, the politicians don't care. But when they see "model citizens" like us, who did everything right, having to ask for canned beans, that creates pressure.
