A shocking arrest decades in the making is going viral after a woman accused of kidnapping her own daughter was finally found—40 years later. Debra Newton, who had been living under the alias “Sharon,” was arrested after investigators connected her to a long-cold parental kidnapping case that began in 1983.
According to reports, Debra disappeared from Kentucky with her young daughter Michelle, leaving behind her husband, Joseph Newton. Joseph said the family had planned to move to Georgia together, but Debra left early with their child. By the time he arrived, they were gone without a trace.

In an emotional twist, officers informed Michelle—now an adult—that she had been listed as a missing person for decades. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office later reunited her with her father, bringing a painful chapter to a close after 40 years.
