Merry Christmas to everyone. Especially to those who maybe don’t like me or gave me a hard time this year—online or in real life—because y’all are the ones who make everything fun. I don’t have any family left nearby, so I’ll probably just spend some time with friends tomorrow.
I remember when I was a kid, hearing my parents in the living room banging around, cussing because they couldn’t get whatever it was they bought together. I’d laugh and still want to believe in Santa Claus. As an adult, I did the same thing for my own kids. There’s just something special about it. I remember one Christmas, my mother did everything she could to get what we wanted because we were very poor. It was the late ’70s. Single mother. I remember how exhausted she was. I was only six or seven. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I understood it later. Now she’s elderly, lives far away, and is very sick. I wish I could be there with her.
So everybody, hug who you love. For those of you with little kids, soak it in—that’s the magic of Christmas. Everybody try to remember what it’s about. I’m not getting religious, but you know what I mean. Celebrate it the way it’s supposed to be, and celebrate it the way you want it to be. Most importantly, enjoy yourself. No stress. Enjoy the day, enjoy your family, and be at peace.
