I think some historical buildings and symbols tied to hatred, division, or painful parts of history keep society emotionally attached to the past instead of encouraging progress. While history should still be taught and remembered through education, books, and museums. constantly preserving certain reminders in everyday life can continue fueling racial tension and division between people. There's a difference between earning from history and glorifying or constantly surrounding ourselves with it. In my opinion, real progress comes from focusing more on the future, unity, and the values we want the next generation to grow up with rather than holding onto every physical reminder of the past.
