When Pontius Pilate inquired about Christ’s identity, Christ responded with the following words. John 18:34 Are you the King of the Jews? Jesus answered him, Sayest you this thing of yourself, or did others tell it to you of me? The answer Christ gave him reveals that some believe what is based on what they hear from others and not understanding it themselves. Does your understanding originate from within or from external sources? In other words, have you acquired your understanding from God or through the teachings of others? One person possesses understanding from God, while the other has only received knowledge from others.
