Fourteen Athens residents, including seven kids, are picking up the pieces after a house fire on McKinley Drive. The Red Cross Disaster Action Team jumped in right away, offering emergency help and recovery support to the family. It’s a powerful reminder that most disasters the Red Cross responds to are home fires—happening every eight minutes nationwide. Their Home Fire Campaign has already saved thousands of lives by installing free smoke alarms and sharing fire safety tips.
