I was in the checkout line with my cart of discounted frozen chicken and brown rice. The woman ahead had a full cart of expensive organic strawberries, gluten-free bread, and imported cheeses—well over $300. She swiped her EBT card without a second thought. I work as an admin assistant at a local school, and my take-home pay barely covers rent. My money is subsidizing her high-end diet.
