I pay $40k in taxes a year, but I can't travel to see my dying grandmother. The system is broken.

I’m on an H1B visa. I work in tech. I contribute to the economy. My Green Card application has been "pending" for years. Because of a processing delay with my travel document (Advance Parole), I am stuck inside the US. My grandmother is in the hospital back home. If I leave to say goodbye, I can't come back to my job, my house, and my life here. We talk so much about the border, but nobody talks about the legal immigrants trapped in administrative hell.
