I Tapped My Buddy’s Tire and Now He Says He Needs a Brand New One. Is This Damage Real?

I had a little fender bender with my friend's car—it was a very low-speed tap, but my car definitely made contact with his tire. He immediately looked at it and said he needs a brand new tire and possibly a new rim because the integrity is totally compromised now. To me, it looks mostly like dirt and a tiny scuff, but I am definitely not a tire expert. Green circle could be a sidewall puncture, leading to a blowout at highway speeds. That should be replaced. . Also the two red circles have slightly impacted the rim integrity and the rim, alone, should be checked for balance-impact. If noticeably off-balance, it too needs to be addressed. . You and he won’t know until it’s checked more deeply, and professionally checked, than can be determined from the photo and your/his opinion. 🤔

There is nothing wrong with that tire. The scuff on the rim is minimal.

For one he’s not a buddy because a buddy wouldn’t say that and second the correct fix is you damaged it you fix it and third find a new buddy someone who has your back.

The side wall damage certainly doesn’t make it safer, you should out of caution and courtesy replace the tire. The rim doesn’t appear from small picture shown to have any structural issue, but it should be inspected on the inside for cracks or damage, again, you broke it, shouldn’t you fix it? If it was my friend, it would be any easy choice.

i dont know but to me them 2 marks on the rim look like there were 2 weight attached there and the scuff is not damaged enough it looks like somene put a shoe scuff on it
