Why Do so Many Americans Oppose Universal Healthcare?

I'm genuinely curious—why do so many Americans oppose universal healthcare? I'm at a point where I'm starting to think about retirement in 10 or so years, and honestly, healthcare is probably what will keep me working until 65. The idea that a medical issue could wipe out everything I've worked for is deeply unsettling. And I’ve felt this way since my 20s. I’d gladly pay my share, even if I don’t need it in the near-term. Politics aside—because I'm so exhausted by the political noise from both sides—I'm trying to understand why we, as a country, wouldn’t want something like this for ourselves. Universal healthcare seems like it would be one of the most important things we could do to protect our well-being and financial security. This isn’t meant to be a political post. To keep in line with your non political question to the people, I'll say this: I'm not interested in supporting the *everyone* because when you start paying all the doctors the same, the quality of care you receive is going to drop because it will become about turnover rates. do you think that the cardiologist wants to be paid what a general practioner makes especially considering the cost of the education they paid and time it took?

The bottom line is we should all have the right to good Healthcare. And if the top 1% paid thier proportionate share of taxes? We wouldn't have this problem! Doctors will get paid what they are worth. They will make good money on elective surgery or upper tier care. I can assure you that.

Because universal health care isn't good. It's expensive. I know Doctors who will early retire or only take patients who pay. I know a Norwegian doctor who was forced to work mandated overtime because the government dictated that everyone needed a vaccine immediately. I have a cousin in England who waited 4 years for a hip transplant. I had a colleague in Canada who came to the US for treatment of a brain tumor. I witnessed 2 telethons in England that raised money for kids to send them to the US for cancer treatment that they couldn't get there but was routine here. How is that better.

If the greedy could figure out how to make you pay for the air we breathe they would. Just think of one thing you are not taxed on or pay a fee for.
