No team in Portland's position with their roster at the time was passing on him. Hindsight is 20/20, but Rip City needed a big man to compliment Aldridge and Roy. Also, it was the training staff that ruined him at the time. They let him keep working out his upper body, even knowing he was going to need to rehab. He should have been shedding the weight to put less stress on his legs. Instead, he got bigger, and it was all over from there. The staff was subsequently fired. Who knows what he could have done with a proper training and dietary staff working with him, very unfortunate we never got to find out.

Great waste of a number 1 draft choice. Portland was good at that. They took Sam Bowie instead of Michael Jordan.

We picked Greg Oden instead of Kevin Durant.
